What belongs on the notice

The first-aid notice must be displayed clearly visibly and carry the information that counts in an emergency. The basis is the first-aid organisation under DGUV Regulation 1.

• The emergency number and, where applicable, the internal emergency number
• Names and contact details of the first aiders, ideally with room or floor
• Location of the first-aid supplies and, where present, the defibrillator
• The full site address including the floor, for the emergency services

That last point looks trivial and is decisive in an emergency: someone making a call under pressure should not have to assemble the address from memory.

Where it hangs and how often to review it

A fixed place beside the first-aid supplies works well, with a second one where people are anyway, such as the kitchen or reception. It should be reviewed after every change among the first aiders and after every relocation.

What the generator does not do

• It does not check whether you have enough first aiders. That is what the first-aider calculator is for.
• It does not check the supplies. Quantity and expiry are estimated by the first-aid kit calculator.
• It does not replace safety training. The reporting chain belongs in the annual training session, so nobody has to work it out in an emergency.
