Fire safety & escape routes
Workplace & inspections
This checklist bundles the typical occupational-safety duties of an office and administrative business. It is a guide and does not replace an individual risk assessment or legal advice. All entries stay locally in your browser; no data is transmitted.
How the checklist works
The list works through the core duties of an office or administrative business and shows the items that actually apply at your headcount. Two thresholds control this:
above 20 employees: occupational safety committee (section 11 ASiG)
from 50 employees: safety officers (section 22 SGB VII, since 29 May 2026)
The two thresholds are decoupled. A business with 30 employees needs a committee but, in a classic office, generally no safety officers yet. Details in the duties quick-check.
What the list is for
It is most useful before the first walkthrough with the occupational safety specialist. Knowing in advance what is missing shortens the appointment considerably and lets you clear up small things beforehand. It also works as an annual self-check and as preparation when a letter from the insurance association arrives.
What the list does not do
- It does not replace a risk assessment. That has to evaluate your specific rooms and activities, see Risk assessment in the office.
- It knows no sector-specific additional duties.
- A tick means exists, not current. A risk assessment three relocations old is formally present and practically worthless.
